The Health And Social Care is a growing area and in organization there are various policies which are related to health and social care. This report is articulated to analyse practices of health and social care in organization. In this context, the organization undertaken for present study is Almond Tree Residential Centre which is a British company which provides social and health care. The cited firm works with primary care trusts, doctors and councils to deliver support and care for older people and people with mental health problems and learning disabilities.
This present report will focus on roles and responsibilities of manager in both internal and external environment of organization. Along with it, report will emphasis on contribution of manager to develop and implement the policies. Roles, responsibilities and duties of care assistant within and outside of organization
In present time I am working as a care assistant in Almond Tree Residential Centre and at workplace my roles, responsibilities and duties are described below:
Fulfilling the requirements and needs: This is the main role which are assistant has to play. He/she need to take the patient to his/her Doctor. In other words care assistant has the responsibility to take appointment of the Doctor in case of emergency or when Doctor wants to meet the patient. In addition to this, care assistant has to make bed, prepare meal, provide the patient with timely meditations, etc. In short, care assistant has to perform also the basic requirement of the patients.
Cooperate with other members- Working as a care assistant in Almond Tree Residential Centre, I have to support and cooperate with every staff members, so, they can share their ideas, suggestions and problems (Health service development and planning, 2011). Care assistant have to analyse and identify the areas in which he/she needs training and accordingly they should develop their skills. Training is very helpful in improving the skills and knowledge. There are times when help is required in providing care to patients. In this context, coordination is very essential so as to provide proper care to the patient.
Identification of communication gap- In health and social context it is important to find the communication gap among staff members and between patients . Communication is very essential in understanding the needs and requirement of the patients and accordingly services can be provided. (Fish, 2006).
Maintain relation with patients and members- This is one of the main roles which care assistant has to play. He/she has to maintain a healthy relationship with the patients as they are the most important part of organization.
Contribution of Care Assistant in development and implementation of health and social care organizational policy
Contribution of care assistant is important in development and implementation of organizational policies which are related to health and social care. The contribution of Care assistant has been stated below:
There are many policies which are made by the organizations. It is the responsibility of the care assistant to follow them. There are case in which the policies made by the organization are not appropriate. In such situations care assistants are helpful in developing policies through which the firm can cover all the important areas because of which the patients can be satisfied. As these care assistant work in closely with patients and as a result they understand the requirements of the patients more clearly. In this context, in order to make policies for the organization, care assistant are very helpful in making policies which would help the organization to grow. Further, suggestions can be taken for care assistants so that firm can make policies accordingly.
Care assistants can also identify their areas in which they lack. When one perform their role, then they get to know the areas in which they lack more clearly. In order to over come these issues proper training and development programs are very helpful. Organization should conduct training and development programs as it is very helpful in improving the performance of the care assistants. Through training they will be able to enhance their skills and knowledge and this will also help them in understanding their patients more clearly. Further, care assistant are very helpful in developing policies and for this context training and development program is very helpful as it will enhance the understanding level and this will result in knowing the drawback and areas in which policies are very important.
The aim of these policies are helpful in accomplishing the goal of Almond Tree Residential Centre and the quality of health and safety policy can also be measured by care assistant in organization. The organizational policy is developed to increase the culture of organization which is beneficial for staff of Almond Tree Residential Centre.
Recommendations to develop care assistant contribution to meet good practices requirements
To develop care assistant contribution while working in Almond Tree Residential Centre in order to meet good practice requirements that care assistant must realize their roles and duties given by the organization. In health and social care, care assistant role needs dedication and utmost commitment towards well-being and betterment of their patients. of Almond Tree Residential Centre. The care assistant must feel loyal, responsible, noble, pride and contentment to be a important part of social care service and always try for improvements. care assistant should protect rights and maintain trust of service users of Almond Tree Residential Centre and also maintain and respect the privacy and dignity of service users. They should encourage others to make their personal guide and support system which will help them and they should make trustworthy and flexible relations with their patients (Twigg, 2006).
