Introduction
The hospitality industry is the one of the most important industry in the world. This is because of the reason this is the most important as the tourism is the latest trend within the hospitality industry. The presentation is based on Marriott hotel which is diversified hospitality company which manage and franchise a wide range of hotels all over the world. The presentation will outline different types of business within hospitality sector. the interrelation between different department of the hotel along with the direct and indirect impact of hospitality industry on UK will be outlined. Further different operational roles ad skills required by these roles will be discussed. In the end factors impacting skill shortage and high labour turnover and the impact of skill gap on the hospitality business will be discussed.

Different types of business in hospitality industry
There is a wide variety of different types of business which can be followed in the hospitality industry. This is majorly because of the reason that hospitality is a vast industry and more people are getting in close with the hospitality as it is very popular and profitable business. Thus, the different types of business which can be carried on in hospitality industry are as follows-
Food and beverage- this is the most important business because of the reason that people going for travelling requires the first thing that is food and beverages. The person cannot live without food and when they travel this is the most important thing which they consider first.
Lodging- this is another type of business relating to staying of the person at time of travelling. This is also a very important business type in hospitality because if the people are going out then they have to stay and for this the most important thing is the hotel and lodging facility.
Recreational activities and entertainment- this is also an important business within the hospitality industry. This is majorly because of the fact that the people go out for travelling because of the purpose of spending free and relaxed time. For this it is very necessary to provide with entertainment and recreational activities.
Interrelationship of different departments within the hotel
In Marriott there are different department which perform different functions. But they are linked with the different one another. Therefore, there is some interrelationship among different departments if the hotel which is illustrated in the following points-
Housekeeping and front office department- these are the most important department of Marriott because of the reason that front office looks after guest and their needs and the housekeeping department looks after the cleanliness of the hotel and the basic requirement in the rooms. Thus, the front office manager communicates the number of guests to the housekeeping and in accordance with those number the housekeeping arranges for the basic amenities.
Font office with food and beverage- this is also interrelated because of the front office manager looks at the check-in and check- out of the guest and this number is provided to the food and beverage department and they make the food in respect of the number of guests.

One of the major direct impact of the increase in hospitality industry in UK is that this adds to the economic development of the country and this also increases the national income and the GDP of UK. This is majorly because of the reason that the profits of different business within hospitality are added in the economy.
Another direct impact on the UK economy is that this increases the number of employment opportunities because there are number of different business within the hospitality industry.

Night auditor- this is a person who is responsible for both front desk agent and an accountant during the late-night shift. This is an important role within Marriott because they audit the financial transaction of the hotel and manages the overnight complaints of the guests.

Time management- this is the most essential skill to be possessed because of the reason that the guest within the hotel needs everything on time and this will be only possible if the different person within the hotel are able to perform on time.
Interpersonal skills- this is also an essential skill for the operational roles of hotel. Lack of flexibility- when the employees just have to follow what the higher authorities say then the employee not like to perform in such working environment. This causes the employees to leave the job and also even the employees know what they have to do then also they do not perform the work with the same efficiency.
Less growth opportunities- this is also a major factor impacting the shortage of skill and high labour turnover. This is majorly because of the reason that if the person will not get any opportunity for growth then they will not work in such place and will leave the job and go somewhere else.

This skill gap has a huge impact on the hospitality business. This is majorly because of the reason that if there is shortage of skilled employees within the industry then the working capacity of the industry will be a little low and this will have a huge impact over the profitability of the whole industry.
